Project Runway 8/31/23

We’re down to it. The final elimination before the finale where they are to design a collection, to see who takes the big win.

The much anticipated avant-garde episode is upon us. Designers get taken to Summit One Vanderbilt in NYC to take in the breathtaking skyline, and the architecture of this cool contemporary building, for design inspo.

It’s the mini-finale before the actual finale. I’m not doing a lot of yammering. Going right to the show!

Bishme – it is a little Batgirl-esque, as Christian said. Elaine seems to like it.

Rami – I do see a lot of fit and construction issues. Not really giving avant-garde, for me.

Brittany – puffer coat skirt thing. I do like this. Not like it, to actually wear, it’s clearly not functional. But I love the iridescent fabric, and the overall style other than the balloon sleeves.

It’s very Brittany. She’s only 33, and she does lean towards the current trends. The puffer coat look is in, as well as cropped tops and jackets. As she said, avant-garde is subjective, and to her this is avant-garde. Sort of a casual avant-garde.

Not sure why that iridescent fabric wouldn’t be reflective on the runway under these lights? I guess they’re too dim. Didn’t look like judges were loving it.

Laurence – avant-garde version of the LBD. It’s extremely intricate and the details are so — detailed.

Brandon seems to love it. This is his blown away look.

Long story short, they love Bishme’s and Laurence’s. Brittany’s and Rami’s, not so much.

Rami is not on the winning end, sadly. But I do like Brittany too. All four are great designers, obviously. Rami accepts the bad news like a the class act that he is. No hate, all love.

Looking forward to seeing all of their collections!!!
