Hot or Not!? OC Reunion – Season 16 April 2022

Well, we certainly had a PLETHORA of Reunion look variations on the Sweet 16 OC Reunion! Didn’t seem as if there was any sort of theme, or color scheme that they had to follow. Also when some of the ladies were on Project

Runway, (Shannon and Gina, where they “bonded.”) Gina disclosed that they were not “allowed” to wear gowns. Looks like that rule changed, since Emily, Jen and Noella were wearing gowns. If you read my blog recap posts about the Reunions, you know who was my ‘worst dressed’ and I still cannot even believe that it happened. I had the same shock on her look as I did with Meredith’s on the SLC Reunion. I don’t believe the backlash online was as bad as Meredith’s, but for me, it was just as horrific. Although I sure didn’t see anything complimentary about it either. Most fans on Twitter were annoyed with, well number 1, her behavior in Part 1, and how she kept interrupting everyone constantly, and thought the dress was too much, and too little at the same time. Too much, as far as the ridiculous ruffles which gave off 80’s prom or bridesmaid vibes, and too little as far as the extreme amount of cleavage. And it wasn’t so much just cleavage, it was her almost her whole entire breasts on full display. How is that appropriate for a reunion show? She almost looked like she should have been standing on a corner somewhere. Someone needs to let her know, too that most of the viewers are female, or men, that don’t really care about looking at tits, if you know what I mean.

And it’s Emily I’m referring to – A hard – NOT! What in the hell do we think this girl thinking? The color was great, but it stopped right there. Too revealing in the chest area, ruffles very dated, and stupid looking. Way too tight. The open back look (which she tends to do a lot) is not flattering on her, because of an excess situation back there. And when you couple that with it being way too tight, too revealing in the front, it was just so. Flipping. Unflattering. Especially when sitting down. I usually don’t talk too much about makeup on my Hot or Nots, however I am now. Her makeup was atrocious! My gosh! Entirely too heavy. Even for evening or low lights, it would have been too heavy. The eyes, lashes, lips, bright red blush. Her eyes were barely even visible due to the extremely long lashes, and very heavy makeup. She looked like a drag queen. (And I’m not insulting drag queens, they just wear a lot of makeup.) I guess we can blame her makeup artist for this, however since she seemed to have a very intense, (and loud) opinion about every other fucking thing, she didn’t look in the mirror, and tell him or her, “do you think this is going to look too heavy in a brightly lit room and on camera?”

And this is to be all about the about fashion, but when you have this trying way too hard look, paired with how she acted quite ill-mannered and cocky in Part 1, it was all just so very off putting. I was poking around for other opinions about her dress, but came across this article that about her behavior, (just as bad as her appearance) and some viewers responses to her constant talking over Noelle and Shannon.

Noella: HOT! First, the color is one of my faves! So let’s get that out of the way. But I swear I’m not being biased based on that. It was really cute, with the cut-outs, which suit her body type, looked flattering while sitting, and was just very Noella. Didn’t look to me like trying too hard. Her hair and makeup were on point also. She was giving me 70’a Cher vibes.

Shannon: HOT! HOT AND HOT!! And to think this dress was last minute purchased at a nearby boutique by a production person! Let that be a lesson learned, in the future for all Housewives! Stop trying too hard! (Emily) and I thought the fact that it was a little more “casual” and low key, seemed more appropriate for the Reunion. I think they are overdressing overall on all franchises. Don’t think the formality of a gown is really necessary, to sit there, and argue with everyone.

I do feel like I have to touch on the reason for the last minute dress dilemma. Most of you probably have heard or read by now, that she had hired “Bones” from Project Runway, who was her designer in the crossover show last season. If you watched the past season of Project Runway you saw how Shannon and Bones just completely hit it off personality-wise, and Bones crafted for her a very flattering dress that was one of the judges faves. There was chatter on the crossover, with some of the Housewives stating that they would like to hire their designers in the future to design them another dress. I honestly didn’t think they would. (I think I read that Luann from RHONY also did this with her designer, Shantall – they also hit it off great !) But Shannon followed through and reached out to Bones about designing her reunion dress.

However if you listen to clip of the Instagram Post included in the article, he’s defending himself against some of the falsehoods in regards to the dress not being completed. I sort of feel like he was making a lot of excuses, blaming her “undergarments” and his measurements weren’t thorough, but taking some responsibility. But, (and I do not sew, but my mom does, and I watch Project Runway…) I will say he may have been sort of, set up for failure, due to the fact that he lives in NYC so he did the whole design and sewing of the dress without ever doing any fittings. Even on the show, they always have a a few fittings with their models before the designs are complete. Any time my mom made me dresses when I was a kid, (she make one of my prom dresses too!) I tried it on several times before it was finished. So you hear in his video post in the article, that he flew to California, sounds like, only the day before they started filming, so she had never tried it on at all until THE DAY BEFORE FILMING. So that’s a problem. Not sure exactly when she officially asked him to do her dress. Perhaps that as an issue too. I feel like she should have gone to NY, during the construction at some point, to make sure she was okay with the design and to do a fitting. And then, on top of that, he was there without a machine, and the tools to do any alterations. (I would have thought he would have a portable one to take knowing there would most likely be last minute tweaks.) He did borrow Coral’s who happened to live close, and was one of his cast mates on Project Runway. Not sure what he would have done to even try to make it work, if that could have happened. Shannon may have had to shell out the cash to get him a sewing machine while out there? Anyway it’s just sad to me because I love Bones, and this was really a cool opportunity for him. Maybe it was too much pressure. I don’t think that color would have been right for her either. It seems like they didn’t even discuss color.

Okay so long story long, I thought her last minute dressed was gorgeous and fit her really well. She appeared to have lost weight since filming had ended. I think she should consider wearing her hair shorter. The length is aging her when I think she’s going for the opposite effect by wearing it longer. Think she should go shoulder-length. I’ve thought that for a while now. Doesn’t she care what I think? Doesn’t she know who I am ?? Her makeup wasn’t as bad as Emily’s, but think it was a little too heavy on her eyes. Too bright of lighting for that shimmery eye shadow, for her age range.

Heather: NOT ! Again, I’m no designer or seamstress by any stretch, but I do feel like I can see what looks good and what does not as far as fit. And the fit at the top of this ugly dress was awful. It needed to be more snug, and it almost looked as if she wasn’t even wearing bra? If she was it was completely unsupportive, and her breasts are very small and NOT perky, which is understandable given her age, but that’s why they make good bras. Nobody prior to taping could see that? Her stylist didn’t see that, she didn’t look in the mirror? I thought the dress had sort of a 50’s “housewife” vibe, which I appreciated, however it just seemed too understated for the reunion show, the fit was bad, and I didn’t really care for that color on her. With her dark hair and fair skin, a pastel just totally washed out her out. Not sure if this was chosen, to try to give off some sort of relatable or “innocent” vibe, but that didn’t work, since she acted vile and superior for much of both parts of the reunion. Oh, and her necklace looked like it was purchased at TJ Maxx. I made a comment about that on one of my Facebook chat groups that I’m on, and someone replied and said it was a high end (I assume) designer or brand, that I never heard of, but it was “Van” something. I replied back that it looked “Van Cheap.” I thought it was funny.

Jen: HOT Honorable Mention – I think that’s what I’m going to go with. I didn’t hate it, but can’t really give it a “hot.” The feathers on it are cute, and not taken to the extreme tackiness level, that some of the Salt Lake city ladies did. The colors are, like okay. I do like brighter colors. I thought her hair and makeup looked really good.

Gina: NOT! A shimmery halter top and pants set? I know that look is in, but not sure appropriate for the reunion, or for her. And what was with all of the shimmery bronzer all over her? I was getting Solid Gold vibes. And the horizontal barrette right at her part? Weird. And the way she conducted herself at the reunion, also unattractive, and kind of despicable, like her partner in crime, Emily.
