Espresso Chocolate Martini

Since the chocolate or espresso martini’s seem to be all the rage all across the Bravo Reality shows that I watch and review, I had to make myself one a few nights ago. It was so funny I made them Sunday night, while watching Potomac and Salt Lake, & on Monday’s night’s premier of Below Deck, the guests were ordering chocolate martini’s left and right. I described them in my review, as a chocolate milkshake with vodka in a martini glass. What does NOT sound good about that??

I decided to do my own spin, and make sort of a combo Espresso/Chocolate Martini. I will admit I used decaf, but of course you don’t have to. I’m not one of those people that can drink “three cups of coffee at 10pm and go right to sleep.” In fact I am such a pathetic wimp, that I don’t even do anything with caffeine after like 2pm.

Here is my concoction if you wanted to give it a try.

Oh, all of my martini glasses broke, so I had to use a (very fancy – thank you) wine glass. It was still good !! I had three – shut up !!! it was also my dessert that night too !

2 oz vodka – I used plain vodka but doing a vanilla or similar flavored vodka would be good.

1 –2 oz Godiva chocolate liqueur depending on how chocolatey you want it.

1 – 2 oz espresso or decaf coffee, brewed and cooled. (depending on how coffee – ey you want it.) you could also use a flavored coffee – vanilla, cinnamon, or use your imagination. I think I will do that next time.

.5 – 1 oz of simple syrup – depending on how sweet you want it. Keep in mind the Godiva liqueur is also sweet. (simple syrup is equal amounts sugar and water boiled and cooled, or you can also buy it made)

I added ½ tsp vanilla to the simple syrup, and a cinnamon stick. (I was feeling a little crazy – if using a vanilla vodka you would probably want to skip the vanilla extract)

1 oz milk or half & half. Half & half will of course make it richer. I used 1% milk and that was fine with me.

For garnish, few coffee beans on top, or chocolate chips, or chocolate shavings, pieces from any candy bar! Again use your imagination !

Put all in cocktail shaker with ice and shake shake shake !!! when you shake it the milk gets all frothy on it’s own. Pour into a martini, wine glass or any pretty glass !!

yes I know Dorit would not approve of a non-martini glass! Whatever !!

YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!
