My Project Runway viewing history is as follows: I believe my first season that I watched was way back when it was actually Christian’s season, coincidentally. A guy I worked with at the time told me about it and thought I would like it since I was into fashion. I don’t think it was on Bravo then, and believe it was before I was even watching Housewives. (Imagine my life – without Housewives!) I can’t! Then I just sort of lost interest after that. Forgot about it, didn’t have time – not sure which I, but I did enjoy it, even though I’m not a huge fan of competition shows. I like tocook, but don’t care for any of the cooking competition shows.
Fast forward to the previous season, which aired in late 2021, around the time that I began my Housewives/Bravo site, so it seemed like a no-brainer to include it in my recaps, especially since it’s on Bravo. I do still find it frustrating in the way of the judge’s critiques being kind of brutal, but I enjoy watching their creations come to life. I don’t sew, I can barely sew on a button, so I am usually blown away no matter what they make. And they’re designing these outfits with scant, and/or strange supplies, and doing all of their own sewing with no help, and completing everything in a day or two. It’s amazing.
It’s ridiculous to listen to the judges comments like, “oh my God it’s so basic, this is what we always see from you!” Yet if they try to veer off of their normal course, they get “this doesn’t represent you!”
Make up your fucking minds.
I was also annoyed at one of the recent episodes when ago when Corto came after Anna because the is judges liked her creation more than hers?? WTF? This isn’t Housewives. Are producers now telling the designers to attack each other? And of all people to come after, you’re gonna attack Anna? Who doesn’t have a mean bone in her body, and you know won’t stand up to you?
Funny how bullies always target someone they think are too afraid to to defend themselves, and someone they think they can intimidate. And why is that? Oh I know, because they’re actually fucking cowards. Like dudes that abuse women. Cowards.
Lost respect for that bitch after that. Anna was a little too forgiving if you ask me. That chick needs to grow up. SORE LOSER!!! So immature.
I was wondering what was going with the show late last year, if there was going to be a new season. Thought maybe it got shelved. So here we are, and sorry I am just now getting to recapping in ep 8. I have been watching it though, except for maybe like 2 in the beginning. I didn’t see the first few eliminations.
I’m proud to report that when the models are strutting down the runway, my faves are usually the judges’ faves as well, so I must know something about fashion!
This episode with the denim was really cool. Who doesn’t love a little denim dress, or jumpsuit? Such a refreshing slight step up from jeans, when you still want to be casual.
Okay enough about me, we’re now down to the final eight, and they all look exhausted. Brandon pays a weird visit to the back of the studio, where the designers convene and unwind, and gives them sort of a pep talk, which wasn’t really all that inspiring. He was kind of acting like his mere presence was enough to give them encouragement.
It was a nice gesture, but I hope he hung out, and talked with them a little longer than they aired. If not it was kind of insulting. He’s not fucking Ralph Lauren. Nobody most likely ever even heard of him until he got this judging gig.
Well, whatever. It just didn’t come off as sincere to me.
So road trip the next morning to Connecticut, which is the home of Christian’s actual store.
Romey who is a contestant and was the other finalist in Christian’s season. this has to be tough for him. He’s not screaming bitterness, but he’s probably a little jealous.
The challenge is using all denim, and nothing but denim. Denim all day. They choose their fabrics from this huge pile of discarded jeans, jackets and shirts.
And the little twist, and there always is one, is that there will be teams of two, that will be head to head battles. Way to pin them against each other even more, but it IS a competition. Loser of each team is up for elimination.
Kara Saun as last challenge winner, gets to be first to choose whom she competes with. Which of course boils down to, whomever is most likely ‘a weak link.’ She chooses Anna, and refers to it as an ‘interesting toss-up.’ In other words, she thinks she sucks. Or maybe would just have trouble designing a denim look.
Anna demands to know the reason why she was chosen, which isn’t hard to figure out, why make it more awkward?? Kara Saun handles it well, she must have been in sales, and says that they’re both strong, let’s turn it up and see how it turns out! I’m glad she didn’t say anything snarky and rude.
She seems content with that.
They’re all getting to choose their contenders. I was thinking the other teams were going to be assigned.
Brittany chooses Laurence, and she’s not sure why, She seems annoyed, Like how dare Brittany think she is more talented than her.
Romey chose Korto, which leaves Bishme and Prajje, who are friends. One day challenge and the grab is on…
Korto (and I’m about to give her a nickname FYI) continues to pick on Anna, just warning you.
Anna’s pile is like three times her body weight. Korto picks a fight with her about how she was grabbing her garments from the table. She was just pissed that she got the most clothing. Can she just stop? Does s he know how this looks? And What the literal fuck is wrong with Christian?
Like he can’t fucking help her? He stands here watching her struggle staring at her. In what galaxy is this okay??
Someone needs to teach this kid some fucking manners. Just because he’s gay, it doesn’t mean he can’t help struggling female out for a minute? Being gay doesn’t exempt you from being a dude with common every day common sense courtesy, does it?? Like a woman wouldn’t hesitate to help out another woman, usually, right?? Wow Christian, just WOW!!
It’s go time, and the creative juices are flowing. Anna admits she’s never worked with denim nor does she ever wear it. Guess Kara Saun knew what she was doing when she chose her as her competition.
She wants to try bleaching, but isn’t really familiar with that process either. In the interest of time, bleach seems to me to be a waste of it, especially if you’re not used to working with it but, what do I know? I don’t create or sew, I just get dressed. And look cute (usually.)
Not that you asked, but my favorite designer is Brittany. I kind of relate to her, and relate to her style, and I love her energy,
I also love Romey, and Anna.
It seems like there’s more animosity here than what I’m used to seeing in the whopping two other seasons that I’ve watched, so maybe I’m not the best judge of that. Is it the all-star thing? Or do you think production is egging them on for more drama?? I just can do without the taunting. Just saying.
I think last season there were two that didn’t get along. There was some argument about switching models. But that seemed like an legit disagreement between two people. It didn’t come off as anyone being targeted and picked on, just for the hell od it.
Christian loves making his rounds and putting the fear of God into everyone. Romey has some weaving ‘up his sleeve’ that Christian is all for. He discourages Anna from doing the bleaching that she was planning. He discourages Brittany from her dress, that he deems too basic.
This is funny, because I was literally just thinking this: Isn’t Brittany hot in that thick, big bulky sweater, trying to feverishly design and sew? It looks so uncomfortable. Just when I was thinking this, she asks if someone has another shirt she can change into.
******
Cunto (okay, I caved – you were forewarned, that’s what I’m callin’ her ) seems to really have it in for Anna, and it just seems really personal, and it’s bugging me. Anyone else? Does she not like Asians? Is she jealous of her? I feel like if it were a white person treating a black person badly, or even an Asian, it would be not tolerated. Also, I cannot stand the sound of her fucking voice.
I love Anna. “If I can make a baby, I can make this dress.” We,, not sure about that.
Romey’s weaving seems interesting. Anna abandons the bleaching thing, since she didn’t know it had to be washed, and is starting her design from scratch.
Christian can be kind of patronizing, but I think that’s his goal. Laurence is so unpleasant kind of – scary. Could she BE any more fucking dry?? Gad!!
Nina is still absent with no explanation. Maybe she has ‘covid.’ Or keeps testing positive for it, and she’s not allowed to participate. I have no idea who this dude is that’s in her place.
Julia Fox of ‘Uncut Gems’ fame is the guest judge. I just watched this movie recently, even though I’ve seent it twice. It never gets old. But the ending ins terrible. Poor Howie. I was hoping Adam Sandler would do more serious roles like this, but don’t think he has. Also haven’t seen her in anything else. I did like her in that movie, but she seems to be kind of strange in her real life. She seems to like to wear really out there outfits, purely to get attention. I think she does her makeup really strangely.
And here we go – Runway time.
Team Prajje & Bishme – Prajje’s look is a very busy patchwork jumpsuit, It’s okay. I love the open back. Doesn’t look like the judges are loving it.
Bishme’s is cute little dress with a cool fringy jacket. LOVE IT. This model is hot, and it fits her like a glove!
Team Korto, aka Cunto & Romey – Cunto designed a cute tie dye dress and jacket. It’s really cool, and she did go outside the box, however, she’s an asshole. I’m starting to see the how the fix is in, and there are planned winners, or favorites. Or planned winners. I was picking up on that last season, that they were setting up that chick to win. Whatever.
Romey’s weaved skirt with a crop top is different. The skirt is fun, but would have been better suited on a model with a flat, as opposed to round, stomach. Don’t come after me! I’m right! It took away from the aesthetic that he was trying to accomplish. The weaving detail with the exposed midriff just isn’t flattering on her. Maybe he shold have just done the weaving on the bottom. The cropped top is amazing.
Team Anna & Kara Saun- Anna’s dress – I see what she was going for, but not sure I’m totally loving it. I immediately knew the judges were not going for this. It was a fun concept, but just not working.
Kara Saun – her design works, and I can see the judges choosing this one. Love the bodice. This model is a curvier girl, and this design does suit her body.
Team Laurence & Brittany – Laurence’s is a gown with these werid boob cut out things, which I’m not loving. Not a fan of gowns, but is is something different thatn the others.
Brittany’s I love!!! Super cute little button down tight short dress, with intricate layers, and a puffer jacket. She tries to commiserate with Laurence, however it doesn’t get reciprocated because she’s such a fucking miserable cranky bitch. Loosen the hell up. this isn’t that serious. It’s not a curing cancer competition, it’s fucking dresses. This is the asshole that’ll probably win. I just did a quick search on her, and she’s from Paris, so I guess that explains why she’s so unpleasant.
Brittany’s is actally my favorite. The only one I could see myself wearing. My favorites are not normally the ‘losers’ but I think she’s getting a bum wrap here, due to the ‘fix.’ and she’s not a judge ‘favorite.’
******
Winners are Bishme, Cunto, Kara Saun, and Laurence.
Judges freaking about the little ‘spike’ detail on the sleeves. To me, they added a little interest and some sparkle. Like calm down. I hate when the judges ask ‘why’ on some detail that they don’t like?
Isn’t this art and creativity?? There doesn’t have to be a reason ‘why.’ I kind of like her puzzled reaction to that asinine question.
Sometimes you just get an inspiration, and there is no actual reason. Crazy ass Julia is even bitching about them, who walks around half naked, and in the weridest outfit concoctions. What the hell is she wearing here, even? Looks like she has a comforter wrapped around her, but it’s a ‘no’ on these subtle little ‘spikes’ sewn on the sleeves?
I actually don’t really like this dress at all, but it may be because I’m not a fan of long dresses, and also may have to do with this dry ass bitch who designed it. Actually my favorite part were the spikes. And maybe the back. But the boob cut-outs gotta go.
This is my least favorite part, when they start critiquing the ‘losers.’
I really do like Brittany’s. She got robbed, since they have a hard-on for that cranky bitch. Look at that intricate stitching and layers. Love it. I also love her top she’s wearing. Wonder if she designed it? I need it. I can totally see this jacket and dress immediately selling out if she was able to get these pieces out there.
Prajje’s I do think was too busy. These judges do have to remember they’re executing these garments in a literal frenzy, with only a handful of hours to do each step. Could they do this shit? I’m thinking no.
Elaine picks on his model’s red lipstick, which to me, looks great with the denim, so not sure why that’s an issue? Doesn’t like her rings, her shoes?? Seriously you’re picking on rings on her fingers, that you can barely fucking see?? And shut up, I like the shoes!! “I don’t get the caged shoes.” Okay lady, you sound stupid. Whatever – I don’t get your stupid fake pony tail. It looks like a horse’s ass.
They fer sure have their faves, and you can tell who ain’t it. She even accuses him of not flattering his model’s body, and he should have abandoned his plan and inspirationo fit his curvy model. What ?? How about we don’t have chunky models? They’re difficult to fit. And as a petite lady. If we’re being ‘all inclusive’ and not doing the typical ‘model’ body anymore, where are the petite models? I don’t see them. Maybe they’re so small, no one can see them??
Anna on the hot seat, and she explains about the bleaching mishap, and this was her redo that she completed in only five hours. They don’t care. They pretend to be impressed, but they just can’t relate to hard work, and don’t give a shit.
They critique all of the gaping and overall fit, and yeah I guess I can see that. And the face chains? Think she was trying to add a little edginess. I hope she doesn’t go, I really love her. She’s such a sweetie. I honestly don’t foresee her winning though. I predict Kara Saun or Cunto. Definitely will be a female, and most likely not a white person. Elaine the Pain, goes for Anna’s model’s shoes too. Why are they picking on the shoes? You can literally put anything, any style, and any color with denim. I love the metallic booties, so there! Brandon calls her design ‘torcherous. ’ What ?? That’s so fucking rude. What a twat thing to say dude! Anna just smiles through it. As she should. Maybe English being her second language, she didn’t know how insulting that reference was.
Romey’s gets critiqued that they didn’t like it the waist caging, it’s dated and they don’t think the two pieces go together. Christian told him he HAS to make this skirt remember? So that sucks
They deliberate, and they’re really into this gown thing of Laurence’s. Julia comments how she doesn’t try to be sexy, she tries to be unhinged. That, she accomplishes.
Kara Saun, Laurence and Cunto are their faves. Laurence wins, Romey is out.
Well not so fast. Christian uses his ‘save.’ His verbiage sort of gives away that he knows Romey isn’t winning, and probably knows who is. Why else would be saying that he’s “not ready for Romey to leave YET.” Yet?? Sounds as if he knows he’s not winning, and will be leaving at some point. There’s no fucking way they’re giving the win to a white dude anymore.
Sorry Romey.
