The Spicy Margarita (Mother of all drinks)

1 – 2 oz silver tequila (I like Jose Cuervo – it’s mid-price range and never disappoints. If you want to spend extra, then Patron would be my recommendation)

4 oz, approx Simply Limeade brand drink

large orange and lime wedges for squeezing into drink (can be omitted)

few slices jalapeno pepper, muddled (smush in glass with wooden spoon – can be omitted)

orange and lime slices, for garnish

salt, kosher salt works better.

ice cubes

I was inspired to post my margarita recipe after the OC premier! There were margaritas everywhere! (Shannon seems to have abandoned vodka for tequila)

I do love me a margarita too !

More of a warm weather drink, I know, but I’m living on the edge these days!! And it was kind of warm out today, for December. (I’m East Coast)

I discovered using this Simply Limeade drink several years ago, and have sworn by it ever since for my margaritas.

It’s really fresh, and not sweet like the margarita mixes. I won’t bore you, I hate recipe pages where I have to read through a dissertation to get to the recipe. This is a really good drink, I promise.

The jalapeno can be omitted if you don’t want the spiciness.

If you’re doing the jalapeno, muddle 1 or 2 slices, seeds included, in shot glass or small bowl with a squeeze of a lime wedge. Muddling is just squishing to release the flavors. There are ‘muddling’ devices, but I use the handle end of a spatula or wooden spoon. Add this to the shaker too.

Put the tequila, Limeade, ice cubes, juice from a large orange wedge, and a large lime wedge in a cocktail shaker and shake. You can also just put everything in your glass and stir it around if you don’t have a shaker. No rules here ! It’s just a cocktail !!

If you like the salt on the rim, which I do, rub the rim with a lime or orange wedge and put salt on a small plate and rub rim of glass in the salt. Kosher salt works better, but not a requirement.

Pour this Lime and tequila wonderfulness, into your salted glass, add some ice, and enjoy! Add a lime and orange slice on rim for prettiness if you want to be fancy, (like Fancy Pants!) but you don’t need to!

I like to add a jalapeno slice, and some lime wedges into the drink, but again, it’s not necessary !

Enjoy !! Shannon, Gina and Emily sure looked like they were enjoying theirs!
