Shake things up with this hot winter time beverage !
Serve to your guests after dinner as a “dessert drink” or WITH dessert! Pairs great with Christmas Cookies !! Who doesn’t love a dessert drink??
Or just curl up with it to tune into your favorite Bravo shows !! There’s no law against making a pretty drink just for yourself !
Homemade Hot chocolate (I use the recipe on the back of the Hershey’s Cocoa container, or you can use hot a chocolate mix. I would replace the hot water with mostly milk though) The recipe on the Hershey’s container is for 6 cups, so adjust accordingly.
½ oz (or 1T) Peppermint Schnapps Liqueur per mug
½ – 1 oz of vodka (depending on how strong you want it) per mug
whipped cream
candy cane for garnish
red or green sprinkles, chocolate shavings, for garnish
Make the hot chocolate according to the directions on the Hershey’s box, or if you’re using a mix, replace the water with milk, if you want it to be a little more rich and creamy. If not, or you’re non dairy, go ahead and use water, or any of the milk alternatives.
Pour into mugs
Add the vodka and schnapps to each mug. Alcohol can be left out. The candy cane will melt and give some mint flavor. Place a candy cane in each mug, and top with whipped cream and red or green sprinkles and/or chocolate shavings.
You could also let cool, refrigerate, shake with ice, and make into a cold chocolate martini cocktail !!!
Coat the rim with the red or green sprinkles! So many options!
If you’re not into mint, leave out the schnapps and candy cane!
No rules !!
