So this sometimes dreadful (it did have some good moments)
season of RHONY has been very much discussed
over the past few months, that there needs to be a shake-up. Perhaps
Ramona’s, Lu’s and Sonja’s time had expired as the main characters
on the show.
While we have enjoyed their antics over the past tennish years, it does seem
evident as this season plays out, that maybe it’s time for these ladies to move on.
I don’t mean that as disrespectful towards them or age shaming of any sort.
While the introduction of thirty-somethings, beautiful lawyer, Eboni K. Williams, this season,
and Leah McSweeney, owner of Married To the Mob, streetwear, last season, did add a little
zest and youth to the episodes, however there was a meshing issue with them
(they were already friends) and Luann, Sonja, Ramona, ranging in age from 56 – 64.
Newly-sober Leah, who came in hot last season, but sort of fizzled this time around, and, in my
opinion, came off as a spoiled twelve year old.
The “story line” of the ill, and then deceased grandmother angered a lot of people
as she continued to film in the Hamptons, while she had
tantrum after tantrum, and crying meltdown after crying meltdown.
(Admittedly, I did enjoy the “you’re a ho, you’re a ho,
and you’re a ho!!)
But even while her grandmother who she claimed to be extremely
close with, lay dying in a hospital bed, Leah did not leave filming to see her one last time.
After her umpteenth tantrum, and she was supposedly leaving, she ended up deciding to stay.
She used the excuse that her family “is so big, she couldn’t get into the room anyway,
and why let this great neck wound go to waste.”
I was actually flabbergasted to be honest,
when she said that, given all of the drama she was throwing around
about how distressed she was.
Sadly, she passed away in the early morning hours when Leah FINALLY (she didn’t want to
miss the Halloween Party) decided to flee Ramona’s mansion in the Hamptons to be by
her Grandmother’s side.
Unfortunately she was too late. And she never expressed any remorse
(at least not that I recall) on the show for not skipping the whole Hamptons trip in the first place.
Filming began in October 2020, one month before the Presidential Election.
Eboni supported the democratic party and the BLM movement, and wasn’t afraid to let everyone know, endlessly, along with Leah backing her up at every turn. (although it’s my opinion she
had zero clue what was even going on, and was only agreeing with Eboni, just to agree with her)
She even demanded to know who voted for Trump and why.
Even though Eboni is an extremely successful attorney and commentator and lives in a
fancy Tribeca apartment, she went on and on about how she was oppressed due
to her race. She jumped on the bandwagon of all of the popular buzz phrases, oppressed, white
privilege, even calling the ladies white supremacists. This rubbed Ramona especially, the
wrong way, since Ramona grew up poor and not privileged, and had to make her own way.
There was even an episode where Eboni was literally forcing Ramona to discuss politics
with her, and Ramona who did not want to argue, did not want to engage since they were
on opposite sides of the aisle. I was actually mortified over this, and proud of
Ramona for not wanting to squabble.
There was also the introduction of life coach, Bershan Shaw, as a friend of Ramona. I enjoyed
Bershan for the most part. She is also black, however, had more of a common sense approach
to today’s environment, and wasn’t having Eboni’s wokeness.
This show is just not the platform for politics.
It’s
just not.
Rumors have been swirling about regarding the demise of RHONY all together,
or, of Ramona being fired.
Today it was announced that Ramona, Lu and Sonja have been offered the infamous
“friend” role for the 2022 season.
Also the reunion has been postponed a few times, and I believe they are even cutting some of the
last episodes?
RHONY Fans, We will see how this plays out.
